" John understood where we were trying to go, what we were trying to do, and then his natural talent really took over and made it an easy deliverable."
Tom Petersen, Collector
It begins with a conversation. Communication is key to establishing a sound foundation of ideas, insights and intentions.
I act as a visual storyteller, and I design my projects with special attention to their environmental elements. I consider the architectural motifs and light sources. I observe how the space is used and who benefits.
From these assessments, I draft alternate concepts for your review. These may include proposals to create custom works or place existing pieces. During these development stages, I determine production mechanics, timelines and costs.
Upon design approval for commissioned works, I then prepare my canvas. All of my canvases are hand-stretched and primed using stainless steel grapples and archival materials. For oversized works, I contract a carpenter who builds sturdy, reinforced, wooden stretchers made to fit my specifications, complete with hanging devices and mounting hardware. Sometimes this may also include custom finish frames.
For quality assurance, I invite my clients to review their projects at pivotal stages of their development. This keeps them informed and involved in my creative process. These checkpoints keep the work focussed on the expected deliverable.
I always deliver on time and on budget.
